When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12)
Knowing where you are going makes life a fantastic journey full of excitement and great expectations. It is common practice to have yearly goals and plans. Your success depends on how you plan to actualize the goals.
Yet there are those who set goals for the setting sake and never make plans to actualize the goals. What a great tragedy to go through life without plan to increase your value and plans to move to the next level in life. Sad to say, people like this may also not make plans for their eternity.
Let me take time to remind you of the story about Albert Einstein, that great philosopher. This is the story:
Albert Einstein was once travelling from Princeton on a train when The conductor came down the aisle, punching each passenger’s ticket. When he came to Einstein, the physicist reached into his vest pocket but could not find his ticket. Then he reached into his other pocket but still could not find the ticket, so he looked into his briefcase. Nothing there. He looked at the seat beside him. Nothing.
The conductor said, “Dr. Einstein I know who you are, we all know who you are. I’m sure you bought a ticket. Don’t worry about it.” Einstein nodded appreciatively, and the conductor continued down the aisle, punching tickets. When the conductor was ready to move to the next car, he happened to look back and saw Einstein down on his hands and knees, looking under his seat for the ticket. Rushing back the aisle, the conductor cried, “Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don’t worry about your ticket! I know who you are. There’s not a problem. You don’t need a ticket. I’m sure you bought one” Einstein looked up and said, “Young man I know too who I am. What I don’t know is where I’m going, That’s why I’m searching for my ticket”
Do you know where you are going? If you don’t know where you are going, you will end up somewhere else. Where are you going in life? Now is the time for you to have a clear vision for your life. Thank God for year 2015, but what is your plan to advance yourself, your family, and to advance the kingdom of God.
Jesus Christ our Lord encourages you to have plans for your life. Look at this scripture from the NIV bible. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Wont you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? (Luke 14:28)
Also see what plans God has for your life as seen in the book of Jeremiah.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11). Remember God works in collaboration with your plans. If you do not have plan for your life, it becomes difficult for God’s plan to materialize. I can see you advancing to greater heights and having uncommon success in the New Year in Jesus name. All your plans will lead to greatness.
In almost every nation in the world, people have dreams of traveling abroad to find greener pastures. Some succeeded in traveling abroad while for others it remains a dream they wish comes to pass. Perhaps you are one of the fortunate ones who traveled abroad and you have been in foreign land for years yet without any meaningful achievement. The point is, it is not too late for you to make plans and set meaningful goals for advancement and add value to your life. Take charge and take control of your life. Do not live by chance. Living by chance will not take you anywhere in life.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5).
In one of the Asian countries I visited in the Far East, ladies from the neighboring countries are employed as housemaids. Under government regulation they are not permitted to be pregnant while working as housemaid. I saw a lot of them who have been in that country as maids for fifteen to twenty years. They earn their meager wages; send it home to their family. Year in year out that is what they do. They have no thought of adding value to their lives either by education or learning a trade. Before too long they are old and it is too late for them to have any meaningful quality of life.
There is a common saying “The best way to let devil have possession of anything is to do nothing”
Lack of planning is the major cause of failure and it also frustrates faith.. When you plan and follow your plan, it becomes a reality.
How about your eternity? Do you know where you are going?
Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one can comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6)
The Bible says in Philippians 2:12b …work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Romans 10:13 says “ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
It is New Year, new horizon, new beginning, and new opportunity. Arise and shine in the New Year. Unusual grace will be made available for you throughout this year.
