Southwest Farmers Market Announces its 2026 Scholarship Program for High School Students

Southwest Farmers Market (SWFM) recently announced the organization’s 2026 Scholarship Program.  This year, SWFM will commit $60,000 in scholarship funds to twenty (20) African graduating High School Seniors, with each receiving $3,000.

The scholarships will be awarded to students who reside/school at locations where their stores are located.  SWFM is seeking “well-rounded young African women and men who demonstrate academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership, and/or perseverance.”

Eligibility Requirements

The candidate must be a graduating senior attending high school who is currently enrolled or plans to enroll full-time in a two —or four-year College or University in Fall 2026.

The candidate must submit an essay on ONE of the two topics below.  Essay must be double-spaced, in Times New Roman, and in size 12 font. Maximum of 1500 words.

Criteria

1. “A Moment That Changed My Perspective.”
Write about a specific experience that shifted how you view life, success, or relationships. This could be a personal challenge, a travel experience, or even a small event that had a big impact.

2. “The Role of Technology in Shaping Our Future.”
Explore how technology influences education, careers, or society. You can share your thoughts on its benefits, risks, and how you see it shaping your own future.

The candidate must submit the Essay and the following supporting documents:

  1. An unofficial transcript of high school grades
  2. Proof of SAT and/or ACT score (if applicable)
  3. A letter of acceptance from a post-secondary institution, and 
  4. The application form and a signed Statement of Accuracy.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION

Submission kicks off March 2nd, and the deadline is May 2nd, 2026. All applications, essays, and supporting documents must be emailed to scholarships@southwestfarmersmarket.com.

Winners will be contacted on or before June 15th, 2026.
