A New Chapter Has Opened Author Dr. Val Egbudiwe Feb 2015
According to 1 Kings 17:1-9, Elijah, the man of God made a pronouncement under the anointing and power of God about an impending drought in the land of Israel and it came to pass. Being in Israel, Elijah was also affected by the drought. But the Lord was with him. The Lord protected him. The Lord defended him and made a way for him. The Lord speaking to me last year said there shall be harsh weather conditions and challenges this year but all God’s children shall be protected that what affects others will not affect them. By the anointing of God upon my life, I release the power of divine protection upon all those reading this message in Jesus name! God directed Elijah to go to the Brook Cherith so that he could drink from the brook and also God said He had commanded the ravens to feed him. ‘Ravens to feed him’. Ravens are birds. Brethren God can use anything to bring to pass His will. Do not put your trust in the arm of flesh and do not think that without you God cannot do what He has purposed because He can use an ass; He can use a mantle; He can use a shadow; He can use a handkerchief. Even ordinary words…He is able to do all things and bring to pass His purposes on earth. I see God performing wonders in your life this year. Amen somebody…! Elijah was drinking from the brook until the drought affected it and the brook dried up. Why would the Lord allow the brook to dry up after sending His servant Elijah there? Because He wanted to open a new chapter for him. Many times the Lord will permit what He started in your life to collapse so that He can start a new thing in a new dimension. This year it shall be blooming in a new dimension for you! When the brook dried up, the word of the Lord came to Elijah commanding him to go to Zarephath where a new chapter shall open for him. There are people today, the brook of your job, your health, your marriage, your business, your career has dried up. Even before the end of 2014, you have begun to experience the dryness. I have come to tell you the word of God today. If you will agree with me, trusting God in faith, because of that dried up situation, you are moving to a place of abundance. That dry situation shall experience blooming with freshness this year. A new chapter has been opened for your life again.
Oh…the story of your life has been full of sadness, sorrow, lack and backwardness but I hear the Lord say that with the new chapter all your tests shall become testimonies; all painful moments shall turn to rain-filled moments. Because of the new chapter, you’re turning from zero to hero. God speaking in Isaiah 43:19 says ‘…I will do a new thing…’I decree new things in your job, new things in your career; new things in your business; new things in your marriage; and new things in your ministry.
Why did the brook dry up? The brook dried up so that old thing shall give way to a new thing. The old circumstance cannot sustain or help the new thing God wants to do. Your life of 2014 has given way to a brand new 2015 and so has the challenges associated with it. A new chapter is being opened in somebody’s life with the New Year. The story of the old chapter was that of calamities, anguish and sorrow but a new chapter has been opened filled with stories of favor, success, abundance and grace. I don’t know what the opening sentence of the chapter looks like. Many times new seasons start as if they are even worse than the old. Several times if you stop at the opening sentence you will not be patient enough to enjoy the good things of the paragraphs that follow.
Elijah did not stop but persisted after the widow told him she was gathering sticks to make the last meal for her son and herself. Elijah believed the word of God and said to the woman in 1 Kings 17:14”… For thus says the LORD God of Israel:
‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.’”.
The widow hearkened unto God’s servant’s instructions and a new chapter opened unto both of them. Why did the brook dry up? God is about to do for you what you have never thought of or planned for this year. This was Elijah’s first miracle of multiplication and creating abundance. If the brook had not dried he wouldn’t have seen this miracle in his ministry. Child of God, God knows who you are. He knows what you desire and where you ought to be to achieve his purposes for your life. If the brook has dried in one place say ‘let it be’ and allow God to lead you to a place of fresh miracles.
For someone reading this message today, God says to tell you, ‘…though the brook has dried for you before now, I have brought you to a place of abundance’. Why did the brook dry up? God wants to fulfill prophecies spoken over your life. In Obadiah 1:20 the Bible says the remnants will go and possess Canaan as far as Zarephath. In Luke 4:25-26, Jesus was recalling the story of the widow of Zarephath and says there were many widows in Israel but only the widow of Zarephath was blessed at the time of drought. God bypassed all the widows in Israel and took Elijah to the widow of Zarephath in Sidon to bless her. I prophesy upon your life that in 2015, God shall bypass and locate you for your miracle.
He will anoint you; He will uplift you; He will heal you; He will promote you and take you to a place of ‘more than enough’.
Why did the brook dry up? God wants to show that the old chapter has finished but you have not finished. The brook dried up but Elijah was still alive. Brethren, you may not have received what you desire but you are still alive. You still have life. The fact that you are still alive means that you will read and fulfill the contents of this new chapter that is opened for you. Yes the brook dried up and the water finished but you are not finished. I say you are not finished. Listen folks. Don’t force a closed door to open because many times your era is finished in that place and you are out for a new thing. Don’t force people back into your life because many times they have finished their assignment in your life and a new somebody is coming to start the new chapter.
You are not finished! In John 19:30 Jesus said “…IT IS FINISHED”. He did not say I am finished. Child of God, money can finish but you are not finished; clothes can finish but you are not finished; food can finish but you are not finished. I don’t know what has finished around you today but hear me child of God we serve a God whose resources cannot finish. He is inexhaustible; He is a mighty God; He rules forever and changes not.
Why did the brook dry up? God wants to show His all-sufficiency. For God to show His abundance He allows you to go broke. When God wants to give you money He allows your money to finish. He is an all sufficient God. Jehovah Jireh the Great Provider is His name. He is the owner of the cattle on a thousand hills. Silver and gold belong to Him. I decree God’s abundance upon your life this year. You will have more than enough for the Bible says in Philippians 4:19 that my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. A new chapter has been opened for you. You shall read and fulfill it in Jesus name.
